In pursuance of the decision of the Union Cabinet on 16th June, 2021, the Government of India has decided to corporatise the functions of the 41 production units (Ordnance Factories) of the Ordnance Factory Board (“OFB”), functioning under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence (“DDP”). Accordingly, the Government of India has decided to transfer, with effect from 1st October, 2021 (“Appointed Date”), the management, control, operations and maintenance of these 41 production units and identified non-production units to 7 Government companies (wholly owned by the Government of India), namely

(ii) Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited
(iii) Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited
(iv) Troop Comforts Limited
(v) Yantra India Limited
(vi) India Optel Limited
(vii) Gliders India Limited
The Indian Ordnance Factories organisation - a family of 41 Ordnance Factories - possesses the unique distinction of over 200 years experience in defence production. We are engaged in production, testing, logistics, research, development and marketing of a comprehensive product range in the area of land, sea and air systems.
The Ordnance Factories form an integrated base for indigenous production of defence hardware and equipment, with the primary objective of self reliance in equipping the armed forces with state of the art battlefield equipment.
